Bowl is a trendy trend in modern nutrition. The dish appeared relatively recently, just 5 years ago thanks to Instagram bloggers, for whom the main thing is to make food look attractive and healthy in the frame. Because of the large number of ingredients and various components assembled in a large plate, the snack began to be called a bowl.

What is a bowl?

Bowl in English means “deep plate” or “soup bowl.”

In our country, such dishes are used to serve first courses or a small portion of salad. In Western countries everything, even desserts, is served to the guests in a deep dish.

Bowls are a base of rice, bulgur, quinoa and components that are placed on top of the base. Thanks to the special serving and bright appearance, such appetizers began to appear in restaurants and on the pages of bloggers. In Ukraine, this fashion trend appeared relatively recently. Bowls quickly gained popularity among adherents of proper nutrition, as they contain whole-grain cereals, vegetable protein and vegetables. The set of products is consumed at one time.

One of the main legends associated with the emergence of bowls comes from the East. Legend has it that Buddha had a deep bowl with which he often walked around after meditating. Any passerby could put anything they saw fit into it. The Buddha accepted it with great gratitude. By the end of the walk, the plate was completely full of food, most often presented with what every poor person could give: pulses, rice, herbs, vegetables. As a result, he got a proper and balanced meal. The technology survives to this day and forms the basis of modern bowls. The main “trick” – in one meal a person should get a daily portion of vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

Originally, bowls were a food for vegans and included food of plant origin. Today they have more variety. Any kind of seafood, eggs, meat and even cheese can be added to a deep bowl.

Why are bowls so popular?

The main “highlight” of each bowls is the serving of the dish. As a rule, the ingredients are not mixed. If you put several kinds of vegetables on an ordinary flat plate and mix them up, you end up with a salad, but if you put them in a deep bowl and arrange them separately, you get a real bowl. It is the attractiveness of the dish and the excellent taste that are the main components of its enormous popularity.

Word of the new trend in nutrition quickly spread around the web, winning the hearts of many food bloggers. Many began creating their own lunch, dinner and breakfast options. Typically, you’ll see a base of rice, quinoa or millet and plant-based protein in the form of legumes or tofu cheese on the plates, and you can also add a few types of colorful vegetables.

Also, we should not forget that bowls are an important element of a healthy diet. People of all ages are actively using this trend. The number of fans is growing every day. After the appearance of bowls in Ukraine, many elite restaurants have introduced it in their menus with great care, one position per breakfast and this method began to work. Many devoted whole establishments to this direction.

Are bowls useful?

A small amount of ingredients is the main condition of any bowls. Professional nutritionists argue that it is the basis for a healthy lifestyle and a beautiful figure. “Buddha plate” will serve as a complete snack and become a complete dinner. It takes minimal time to prepare, and the serving will satisfy the aesthetic demands of even the most demanding gourmet.

Bowls are a trend of the new season, which is not always exclusively beneficial. Since there are several types of food in one plate at once, it is important to combine and match them properly. For bowls to be healthy, they need to be balanced. This means that in one bowl should be not only carbohydrates, but protein, fiber and everything you need for normal health.

Nutritionists will agree that this is not only a trend in proper nutrition, but also a really healthy trend. When consuming a single serving, a person will get the maximum benefit due to the fact that in one bowl the necessary substances are presented. In addition, thanks to the bowl, many people begin to consume foods that they have not tried before.

For a dish to bring a lot of benefits it should be simplified and thought out as much as possible. You should not put into the “bowl of Buddha” everything that is in the fridge.
